WAVE - NEW CHAPTER (9/17/2017)

1. DUAL SHOCK WAVE 2017 - Round #1 - TLC Match: Pyonzu, 's (SAKI & Kyusei Sakura Hirota) vs. Natsu & Natsuri (Natsu Sumire & Maki Natsumi)

N/A

2. DUAL SHOCK WAVE 2017, Quarter Final - Y-Shirt Lumberjack Match: Natsu Sumire and Maki Natsumi vs. KUSO ONNA NIGHT (Yuki Miyazaki & Nagisa Nozaki)

**1/4

3. DUAL SHOCK WAVE 2017, Semi Final - 2-Count Rules Match: So on Flowers (Moeka Haruhi & Aoi Kizuki) vs. Gokigen BBA (Kaori Yoneyama & Cherry)

*

4. DUAL SHOCK WAVE 2017, Semi Final - Slow Motion Rules Match: BOSS to Mammy (Yumi Ohka & Mio Momono) vs. Avid Rival (Misaki Ohata & Ryo Mizunami)

Good tag match; slo-mo sequence was brilliant. Momo-tan continues to look impressive.

***

5. DUAL SHOCK WAVE 2017, Final - Submission Match: BOSS to Mammy (Yumi Ohka & Mio Momono) vs. NEW-TRA (Takumi Iroha & Rin Kadokura)

This was an enjoyable match, nothing memorable. I have no idea what they've done to DUAL SHOCK WAVE this year, last year's was incredible.

**1/4

6. Cabellera (Mitsuo Momota) Contra Cabellera (GAMI): Fairy Nipponbashi & Chikara (w/ Mitsuo Momota) & vs. Kendo Kashin & Hikaru Shida (w/ GAMI)

DUD

7. WAVE Tag Team Championship: Big Rice Field (Hiroe Nagahama & Kaho Kobayashi) (c) vs. NEW-TRA (Takumi Iroha & Rin Kadokura)

NEW-TRA were fun to watch, Iroha's kicks and the double teams. The champions barely had any presence here, the challengers outshined them completely.

**1/4

8. Regina di WAVE Championship: Rina Yamashita (c) vs. ASUKA

Good match, it felt like it lost steam a bit, but then they picked things back up via stiffness. ASUKA hits a gnarly German suplex.

WAVE - 10th Anniversary『CARNIVAL WAVE~NEVER ENDING STORY~』(8/12/2017)

1. WAVE Tag Team Championship: Gokigen BBA (Cherry & Kaori Yoneyama) (c) vs. Big Rice Field (Hiroe Nagahama & Kaho Kobayashi)

*1/4

3. Fairy Nipponbashi, Hibiscus Mii, Kyusei Ninja Ranmaru & Sakura Hirota vs. Hana Kimura, Hikaru Shida, Mio Momono & Rin Kadokura

**1/4

4. Aoi Kizuki & Nagisa Nozaki vs. Mika Iida & Yuki Miyazaki

**3/4

6. Ayako Hamada, Meiko Satomura & Nanae Takahashi vs. Chihiro Hashimoto, Satsuki Totoro & Takumi Iroha

Satomura and Nanae do a smashing job of bringing heat into this match. This is the best I have seen from Iroha all year; loved the back and forth slapping.

***3/4

7. Best Friends (Arisa Nakajima & Tsukasa Fujimoto) vs. Avid Rival (Misaki Ohata & Ryo Mizunami)

Enjoyable, fast-moving spotfest; these two teams have amazing chemistry. There were some unique counters and the double Hot Limit was great.

***1/2

8. Regina di WAVE Championship: Rina Yamashita (c) vs. Yoshiko

It feels surreal to watch a joshi event that takes place in the same venue Okada and Tiger Mask W fought in. This borrowed a lot from the SEAdLINNNG match, but since this is Rina's turf she was the focus of this story. The action was intense and hard-hitting, and the closing lariat battle was epic.

9. ASUKA vs. Yumi Ohka

This went a little longer than it needed to be, but it was good. There were fluid sequences and counters, and ASUKA showing her freakish athleticism. Ohka brought it in this match, I was very impressed by her since she can be mediocre a lot of the time. It felt like it peaked somewhere in the second act; could've used some trimming, but still a great main event.

WAVE - Be Exciting! (7/2/2017)

6. WAVE Tag Team Championship: Over Sun (Yuki Miyazaki & Yumi Ohka) (c) vs. Gokigen BBA (Cherry & Kaori Yoneyama)

For some reason BBA really want to be put in Miyazaki's Embarrassment Hold, and there was a creative moment where Yoneyama tries to force herself into it. Miyaki also does an inverted version of the move on Cherry, which looked cool as fuck. Probably making this match sound better than it actually was... it was very, very boring other than Miyazaki.

*

7. Regina di WAVE Championship: Ryo Mizunami (c) vs. Rina Yamashita

This was mostly action with almost no emotional depth, and there is nothing wrong with that when the action is fresh... but this was nothing I haven't seen from these two before. Still a solid enough slugfest, though, they were trading bombs, and Yamashita's cracks herself open with a headbutt.

OZ Academy - Summer Soft Breeze (7/16/2017)

1. Aja Kong vs. Hikaru Shida

An uphill battle for Shida, and she had to use whatever openings she could find, and seize the opportunity with shinai strikes and knees to head. It didn't reach the violence of their past encounters, with the blood and what have you, and the double KO ending hurts, but I thought this was otherwise an awesome brawl.

***3/4

2. MK4 (Kaho Kobayashi & Sonoko Kato) vs. Kaori Yoneyama & Yoshiko

Awesome match; loved the double team maneuvers. Yoshiko and Yoneyama had a fun team dynamic, and Sonoko is just the best.

3. Manami Toyota vs. Tsubasa Kuragaki

**

4. Sekigun (Alex Lee, Mayumi Ozaki & Yumi Ohka) vs. Aoi Kizuki, Hiroe Nagahama & Rina Yamashita

This was a perfectly fine houseshow trios match. The opening FIP segment was pure sadism; Hiroe is a great bumper. I'm warming up to Alex Lee in Ozakigun.

5. AKINO vs. Hiroyo Matsumoto

Mayumi Ozaki vs. Yumi Ohka (WAVE, 5/3/2016)

WAVE - CATCH THE WAVE SCRAMBLE (5/3/2016)

Catch THE WAVE Italian Red Block: Mayumi Ozaki vs. Yumi Ohka

This was basically a blood-less version of their OZ match, with less weapon use and a clear babyface in Ohka. Still violent as hell, though. Ozaki's amazingly high wrestling IQ is on full display here, and she's making Ohka look incredible. This feels like a fight all the way through, and there isn't a dull moment.

3. WAVE Tag Team Championship #1 Contendership: Over Sun (Yuki Miyazaki & Yumi Ohka) vs. Kaori Yoneyama & Mika Iida

There's a lot of crazy stuff happening here. Loved Iida's matwork and those European uppercuts, and I liked the NEO nostalgia with the closer against Miyazaki.

****1/2

4. Five on One Gauntlet: Kyoko Kimura vs. Kagetsu, Moeka Haruhi, Rina Yamashita, Rin Kadokura & Yukio Sakaguchi

A 40+ minute Kyoko match probably doesn't sound attractive to many people, but I thought this was a great gauntlet where each opponent brought something fresh.

This was one hell of a carry job from Mizunami. Moeka showed fighting spirit and had great counters and took some punishment. Really great match.

DAIJO - September (9/12/2014)

1. Yuu Yamagata, Hikaru Shida & Mika Iida vs. Kana, Tomoka Nakagawa & Kaho Kobayashi

Excellent opener. Kana was the highlight of the match, always get enjoyment out of her feuding with Shida over who has the best hip attacks. Furthermore, Iida got a taste of her glorious stinkface.

**3/4

2. Kuishinbo Kamen vs. Kyoko Kimura

There's mat work at the start that looks like a genuine struggle, with strikes thrown during holds. The clown fights dirty with closed-fists. Kyoko is more than happy to return the favor. It's not often you see a face Kyoko, but Kushinbo was such an asshole in the way he worked her over that it just worked.

****

3. Fairy Nipponbashi, Kyusei Ninja Ranmaru & Hibiscus Mii vs. Benten-Musume, Misaki Guriko & Nyanbar

***1/4

4. Ayako Hamada vs. Rina Yamashita

The first half was Hamada smothering the rookie with her superior mat game, and the second half was Hamada overwhelming the rookie with her superior everything else. Rina's offense basic as she is still in her rookie phase, but I thought she made a good fighting spirit rally.

***1/2

5. Yumi Ohka vs. Sawako Shimono

Ohka throws a killer big boot and they are here in abundance, and Shimono's huge hips makes for a painful raiden drop. I thought this flowed well and the selling was good.

Yumi Ohka vs. Fairy Nipponbashi (WAVE, 12/4/2013)

WAVE - Weekday Wave Vol. 69 (12/4/2013)

Yumi Ohka vs. Fairy Nipponbashi

Something of a dream match since Ohka is in her old fairy idol gimmick. They battle with magic wands, Yumi fights dirty with cheap shots to Nipponbashi. Hearing Ohka recite spells with her husky voice was cute. Fun match with throwbacks and impeccable comedic timing.

WAVE - HAPPY NEW YEAR WAVE ‘17 (1/8/2017)

1. Battle Royal: Aoi Kizuki vs. Cherry vs. Fairy Nihonbashi vs. Hiroe Nagahama vs. Manami Toyota vs. Moeka Haruhi vs. Rina Yamashita vs. SAKI vs. Tsubasa Kuragaki vs. Tsukasa Fujimoto

Aoi Kizuki cosplayed as a chicken in this match. It was nice to see SAKI of the former Buribato make her return. Yamashita goes over Fujimoto in a dramatic finish. All is well.

**1/2

3. Yukihi Maya & Sumire Natsu vs. Syuri & Tsukushi

Definition of a fan-service match. Water guns, FEET, Maya-obachan, Sumire Natsu, Yuki Miyazaki's embarrassment hold.

*

4. Best 2/3 Falls: Hikaru Shida, Mika Iida, Yuki Miyazaki & Yumi Ohka vs. Las Aventureras (ASUKA, Kaori Yoneyama, Sawako Shimono & Yuu Yamagata)

his was an enjoyable match chock-full of comedy and neat double team spots.

***

5. WAVE Tag Team Championship: Avid Rival (Misaki Ohata & Ryo Mizunami) (c) vs. "Oedo Tai" (Kyoko Kimura & Kagetsu)

At 24 minutes, this is long, and there is definitely a sluggishness to it, but I liked a lot of what they did here and they build to a satisfying finish between Ohata and Kyoko. Avid Rival has some of the most devastating double team moves you will see in joshi puroresu. That counter Ohata did of Kyoko's Gory Bomb into the Blue Dhalia was wonderful. Lots of heat and big boots being throw.
